Mugunda Maternity Clinic

Situated on the edge of the Aberdares Mountain Range in central Kenya, the town of Mugunda is largely a subsistence farming community located in the rural reaches of Nyeri County. As in many rural areas of Kenya and East Africa, travel logistics often prevent many Mugunda women from receiving safe and consistent maternal care. Our friend and former colleague, Greg Elsner, has spearheaded the design of this clinic. The woman's club of minneapolis / MCTC Foundation

Founded in 1907, The Woman's Club's mission is to operate for charitable and educational purposes, civic and social services, and friendly association. They organize and run many programs and projects throughout the year to benefit many members and groups in our community. For over 30 years, The Woman's Club has funded scholarships at MCTC for academically successful students studying disciplines that benefit women and children. Reaching 900,000 listeners each week, MPR is a member-supported public radio service.
